Here the philosopher Lao Tzu is depicted riding a mule (a symbol of strength, benevolence and steady toil). With one hand holding a book and the other left open, he avails himself to the giving and receiving knowledge. LaoTzu was a philosopher from approximately 5th century BC and author of the Tao Te Ching which conveys much essential wisdom about nature and human perception
